Review of Dolly Girl by Nella Raj

Smells great, nobody else will have it... maybe a bit too young/different for some noses... The Bottom Line If you're looking for a change to a new, different scent why not check out Dolly Girl! Boasting a unique scent within the unique bottle, Anna Sui’s Dolly Girl is an interesting fragrance. I say “interesting” as a compliment because I’ve never in all of my years of perfume admiration smelled anything even remotely similar. The first thing you’ll notice about Dolly Girl is the bottle. It’s flirty and girly—basically a pink frosted cartoon head. That will be your first indication of the interesting contents. See, Dolly Girl is not for people who can’t handle a little light-hearted humor. Certainly, it smells great but what constitutes that gentle fragrance is rather unique. With other fragrances to her credit including Sui Dreams and Sui Love, designer Anna Sui impresses with her most recently released fragrance (2003). Dolly Girl is a light, fruity, summery, and airy fragrance that at first smells like something you’d expect a young girl to wear. But further attention turns up some surprising details. The overtone seems to be some kind of grapefruit, but it is not. What it is happens to be a lovely mix of fruits, spices, flowers, and even some understated woody notes. Dolly Girl is a youthful fragrance—but not one for the young, rather for the young at heart. Many sites online over-simplify the fragrance and say it includes just things like cinnamon, bergamot, melon, jasmine, and magnolia. True enough, they are here. But I think it’s the complex base that makes Dolly Girl a success.

Okay, so I'm shallow. I originally purchased Anna Sui's Dolly Girl for the bottle alone. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I actually really like the fragrance. At first it smells like tangerine and grapefruit when i first spray it onto my skin. On drydown, it's a very fruity-floral feminine scent. It's a perfect whimsical scent for Spring. And of course, you gotta love the bottle!

The first time i smelt that perfume I was in London, in Oxford Street, on a commercial center full of colognes. I smell this fragance for casuality, because i was searching for Ghost colognes, but i saw Dolly Girl and i liked a lot the nice bottle, so i smelt the fragance and i liked so much her smell!! So summery ans lightful, but still sweet and delicious. The smell is full of watering fruits and some fresh sea breezes. It is a fragance that reminds me the babies colognes, 'cause is a very nice fragance. So sweet and sparkilg.
